Alexandra Maria Lara (born in Romania) is a Romanian actress and television presenter. Her most well-known work is the lead in Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control as well as Rush. As the sole child of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra started her professional career in showbiz as a child. Her roles included lead characters in dramas on television as young as 16 years old. Following her highly acclaimed performance in the TV film Der Tunnel, Alexandra went on to play other noteworthy roles such as Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudljunge on Downfall. This film received nominations for an Oscar and received critical and commercial great success. The Reader as well as Der Baader Meinhof Komplex were also nominated for Oscars. Alexandra was involved in a variety of notable national and international projects throughout her career. These projects include British biographical film Control Greek Drama film The Dust of Time French Historical Miniseries Napoleon as well as many other. She also remained member of the jury of the Cannes Film Festival and the Transylvania International Film Festival.
